Nothing Left to Sing About: Siamang

Siamang
Artist's Description

The largest of the gibbon species, the siamang is heard calling high in the canopy of the remaining Sumatran rainforest. The obvious feature of these gibbons is that their throat sacs inflate when they call. Interestingly, when drawing the siamang, the long, slender hands seemed unusually long in relation to my own! I found myself measuring and re-measuring just to make sure I was getting it right.

55 centimetres wide by 50 centimetres high
